In, Apple said that nearly all of its iOS devices and Mac computers are affected by the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities that came out in the open earlier this week. This means all iPhones, iPods, iPads, Apple TVs, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and iMacs are affected by the security hole.

Apple’s iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers are all vulnerable to the major processor flaws revealed on Wednesday, the company has warned, but it says updates are already available.

Apple said: “All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time.”

The company advised customers to download software only from trusted sources such as its iOS and Mac App Stores to help prevent hackers from being able to use the processor vulnerabilities.

In a support document, Apple said that iOS (11.2) released on 13 December, macOS (10.13.2) released on 6 December, and tvOS (11.2) published on 4 December all protect against Meltdown for supported devices and that WatchOS did not need updating.

Users of Apple products are urged to update their devices with the latest software if they have not already. iOS 11.2 supports the iPhone 5S and newer, iPad Air and more original and the sixth generation iPhone Touch. MacOS 10.13.2 endorses the iMac and MacBook from late 2009 or newer, the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini and Mac Pro from mid-2010 or more modern and the MacBook Air from late 2010 or later.

While initial coverage of the Meltdown vulnerability said that fixes could bring hits to performance, Apple says that neither macOS nor iOS suffers from a “measurable reduction in performance” in benchmarking or in web browsing testing.

The company says it plans to issue patches for Safari on macOS and iOS to better help devices defend against Spectre, which is more easily exploitable and affects devices using chips from Intel, AMD, and ARM. Apple Watch devices are not affected by Meltdown in any way, the company confirms. In a separate statement issued today, Apple proves that the Apple Watch is also not concerned by Spectre, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Note:- Added that Apple Watch is not affected by Spectre in addition to Meltdown.
